For any of the rest of you who come upon this thread, Box of Tricks is a wonderful read by an author who deserves more recognition. Read it, and vote for Jeff!

Well done, Jeff. It took my local Waterstones an age to order the book – I guess they don't count Tyndal Street Press as Dan Brown territory – but it was worth the wait!

Thank you all for such a great response. I'm touched by so many people saying good things about Box of Tricks. It came in second in the October/ November voting. Thanks to all who voted for it. You can still buy it, of course - Amazon or demand to know why your local bookshop hasn't got a copy!

There are very few books that my wife and I agree on – our tastes hardly ever overlap. But we both loved Box of Tricks. That says something, Jeff. You've written a book that works in all sorts of different ways.

Incidentally, the taste business is why I hang onto every word (there usually aren't that many to hang on to) when Fiona reads my work. I know that my writing is on the edge of her comfort zone!

Well done, Jeff!
