The title says it all: Who do you think is the best Doctor so far?
(p.s Matt Smith isn't included in this topic as we havn't seen
enough of him to know how good he is)

Nooooo! Don't make me decide. Troughton, Tennant, Eccleston and
Davison were all good. Tom Baker had good qualities but stayed too
long.

Jon Pertwee! All the others since played it too tongue-in-cheek.
Jon Pertwee was the ideal Doctor, just as Christopher Lee was the
perfect Dracula, Basil Rathbone was the perfect Sherlock Holmes,
and no-one but Ronnie Barker could have been Norman Stanley
Fletcher.

My parent's did not have a TV when I was young and the only time I
watched TV was on saturday afternoons when we visited our
grandmother. Hence Dr Who was the only progamme I watched - along
with all-in wresting.
I saw one of the early Dr Who's with William Hartnell which was
shown on BBC 4 some years ago. The plots owed something to H.G.
Wells and also to 'The Brave New World ' and were rather wordy by
todays standards. But the crotchety and elderly William Hartnell
had been the most original Dr Who. It is interesting that James
Bond underwent a similar metamorphosis over the years and the
recent version 'almost' reverted to the original. I cannot
remember the William Hartnell's relationship to his first
assistant. Perhaps he had been a grandfather? The BBC should have
reverted to more of a William Hartnell character but it is too
late now. Perhaps next time!

I might be the only one that really like Eccleston as the Doctor
(at least, from what I have read around the web). Not saying that
he is better than Tennant, but I still liked him very much.
I don't really remember much of the "old" Dotors, so my
comparison is limited to the new ones - hope the long time fans
will forgive me. :)
