What is the reason that forced you to start writing the book you are writing, is it personal satisfaction, want to beat J. K. Rowling, or whatever...

Perseverence.
Simply to prove to myself that I can do it....that's not to say that I would decline if offered the ever elusive jackpot publishing deal, yet just to finish it would be good!

Im writing my book because I (it sounds lame) have been inspired by such writers as JK Rowling, Darren Shan, John Steinbek etc etc.

Yes! Let me break it down for you: That bit*** will regret ever being so succesfull! lol

But seriously, I really don´t know, I don´t remember ever being forced to write.For me it was like a lightning: I had the ideas of the characters and BANG, the plot started to develop and here we are today. And as I observed the story, I (humbly lol) thought: "Hey I might make a living out of this."

We´ll have to wait and see =)

Matt it doesn't sound lame, as a matter of fact, I am writing my book because of the same reason. Once I and my friends were talking about Barry Totter (Harry Potter's parody) then one of friends said, "We can write a book too," these words changed everything. And since that day I started planning for my book, and eventually writing it.
In conclusion, I want to be like every FANTASY writer.

Your'e not supposed to be forced.
It's as if the story is already happening, you just have to write it down.

My characters came to me in a day-dream and completely took over my mind! seriously! And the main one is nagging away at me right now, demanding why I'm answering questions and not about her!
