The land of the audio book.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this field?

My grandad happens to dabble in audio book narration and is happy to record for me once I have finished my final edit. He says it will take him around 60 hours (full production) for approximately 10 hours of audio (100,000ish words).

It is a very good opportunity, but I am concerned that the market isn't particularly active for new authors / those without a well-known name. I fear that it will be a flop and my grandad will have spent 60 hours of his time for little return.

Has anyone else tried to sell their book in audio format? How did it go? Do you have any advice?

Hi, Theweyman.
Have you thought of pitching this to radio? Just a thought.

Hi Mezz,
Would you do that as an exclusive? Before the audiobook is released independently? Or would you release it first and then pitch it afterwards?
Also, is there any other station other than BBC 3/4 that would do it?

Get on your computer - narration, USA - there's plenty. Record 5 minutes, e-mail away.
