Because I've been neglecting my little dog lately and not been
playing with him enough. I feel a little guilty about being up here
in the clouds when he is waiting down below for some loving tender
care.

Because I feel guilty every time my wife brings a cup of tea out to
the workshop where I write. My son brought it today: even more
guilt. And because my head is in a story when people try to talk to
me. And because I get far too attached to my characters, and it
hurts every time they get edited.
Yes, and I'm not earning any money – I'm taking a year out.
And I scraped through an English language O level in 1971 and
failed literature because I thought I knew the books.
And...

I'm so glad to hear that there is a fellow 'scrapee' out there
John.
I can't cope with letting go of my story. It's mine, MINE, I tell
you! (Scarey eh?)
I don't want some editor cutting out words willy-nilly, or worse
still whole scenes, just to save screen time, when so much though
and effort has gone into every one.
Oh this is going to be hard.

The list of reasons why I should not be a writer is longer than the
book I'm writing. That's my head talking. My instinct, gut, heart,
whatever you want to call it, just says
doitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoit. This bit of me has the casting vote.
Certainly at the moment.

I havent had time to write for weeks and weeks - today is the
day! Well it was at 8am - now I'm invaded. Youngest child and
friends wanting to make gross pizza - its a game they invented
which involves weird pizza toppings, an oven and my supervision.
Oldest child has decided he actually wants to do maths homework
NOW and this involves quadratic equations and my supervision.
Husband has decided to replace some outside lights and this
involves electricity and my supervision.
Reasons why I shouldnt have become a writer - see above!

I know just how you feel, Sarah. Unless it is written down before
6.00 a.m., when everyone else begins to stir, forget it!

I shouldn't have become a writer because I'm leaving the World to
go on without me. I live locked up and hidden out of it's
way. I am becoming a recluse. But my little
world seems so much more fun. than out there.

I should not have become a writer because I have just made the love
life of one of my characters fit in with a plot.

I should not have become a writer because it's reclusive and
introvert and frustrating and complex and long winded and difficult
and addictive and fun and time consuming and exhausting and
invigorating and energising and slow and methodical and pacey and
rapid and, well, basically an emotional roller coaster. And for
what? So some stuck-up graduate-filled publishing house can snort
in derision at the mad rambling's of an uneducated dictionary
surfer before dissmissing my life's work with a flick of the wrist
and a waft to the round filing cabinet on the floor, crushing my
soul and tearing my heart into a million pieces?
Or, maybe... they will like it...?

Well as my dear Clouder friend said; Life's a roller
coaster and you've just got to ride it !
I know how you feel, EzBloke, but there still is a huge
satisfaction in finishing a piece of work.
Even if it is thrown to the lions, you still did it and that's a
wonderful achievement.
And as you say...what if they like it...? A good
thought for us all to keep in mind.

hi there i spent a full day looking at trash on the internet which
i was looking through
i was looking for stuff like what weapons would destroy a H39 tank
and what would
set it on fire or hinder it and how the driver used to see to drive
it, if they used a telescope
device thing back then to drive or a hatch which they looked out
of,
it seems that they used a hatch on a h39 but i'm not certain.
my book is based in 1888 to 1960 or later i need a really good tank
which i'd
say used a microscope like devise (dont know the real name of the
microscope) preferablly,
in about 1930-40 when the characters would be around 40 years old
