I've recently started a script having finished a novel. The novel route to publication seems clear if not easy, find an agent and then get a deal. But what do you recommend first for completed scripts? Finding production companies, getting a script consultant to give feedback etc?

Thanks.

I'm having a script consultant look at my screenplay.
You need to get it the best it can possibly be before you pitch it to anyone in the industry - that's what I've been told anyway.

You might find How to Make it as a Screenwriter useful. it's n e-book available as a download from www.meadkerr.com all proceeds go to Childline, so it's all in a good cause.

Thanks. Does that book talk about who and where to submit your polished work to?

You might also find it useful to get in touch with The Script Factory in London - www.scriptfactory.co.uk - which runs courses and competitions as well as offering a script analysis service. Some of their courses include opportunities to submit work to developers. It's also worth looking out for script writing competitions. For example Scriptpimp - www.scriptpipeline.com/screenwriting-competition - runs one, and there's another one called The Page Awards - pageawards.com/the-contest . They're both American, but there's no harm in sending in your stuff to them too. The other thing I'd advise is that you read as many scripts as you can, and these can be found at www.simplyscripts.com

Good luck!
