The Doll Makers (winner of the CWA
Debut Dagger) was published by Robert Hale Ltd at the end of June
2010.
The Amazon link (plus links to cheaper
suppliers) are on my website www.pennygrubb.com
It was a long and convoluted road to publication. I'd long
abandoned this PI series when I entered the book for the dagger
award. When it won, I resurrected and rewrote it all. The result
is that the books are coming out in slightly the wrong order
chronologically. The Doll Makers is the 3rd in the series but the
2nd to be published. The first, Like False Money, came out in
February, and the 2nd in the series, the Jawbone Gang, will be
out next year.

Life looks good for insurance fraud investigator Annie Raymond or
rather that’s how she spins it. As she returns to her native Argyll
she has no clue how she will tell her father the real story; she
only knows she must. But she hadn’t counted on his agendas getting
in her way, or on the business she left behind creeping up to take
centre stage. For a moment, the
new case looks like a lifeline, but that’s only wishful thinking.
Or is it? It wouldn’t take much to fake the evidence and deliver
the miracle. Distracted by an impossible choice, Annie takes her
eye off the ball as loose ends
tie one of her cases to a far off police enquiry. With nowhere left
to go, Annie holds vital evidence. And someone close is determined
she will never deliver it.

Goodness, I am so ham-fisted at this sort of thing. The image is
HUGE and rather stretched. I had in mind a neat little book cover.
Sorry.
