If the answer to these questions is YES then please volunteer to be a "Festival buddy"! Wearing a specially marked badge, newcomers to the Festival will know they can approach you - to ask directions, check what time coffee is - or just for a chat.

We have writers coming from 20+ countries around the world this year and especially with so many international visitors we want to make sure everyone has the best time possible.

I'd be happy to help anyone! Last year we all muddled through together but I would be happy to be help anyone if I could.

Seems like a good idea. I can't arrive until Saturday morning at approx....10ish I'm guessing....so it would be nice to have someone to point me in the right direction!

My top tip from last year: don't be fazed by people walking out of workshops - they're not fed up, they're going to 1-1s

My top tip for this year: I'm bringing some bread for the geese.

I remember the geese from when my eldest went to York uni! (when I first read this I thought you said you were bringing some bread for the cheese!!)

I'd be happy to muddle through with a star on. Chat, socializing and drinking, I do. But I can't promise that directions from me will be easy to follow. 'Er, I think it's sort of, no, that way...?'

I'd also be happy to wear a star and try to help newbies to the Festival :-)
