Other than clothes, cans of beer, bottles of wine...
...are there any specifics you will bring?

1. Notepad...with lovely textured feel...to reduce the sweat on my palms during the 1-2-1
2. Pen(sssss)
3. 10 Copies of Synopsis ...No joke
4. 10 Copies of First 3 Chapters
5. Lots of Business Cards (I use www.moo.co.uk )... they are really good!

Pen refills. I like gel pens, and my favourite one ran out last year. And a sketch pad for doodles. And Armagnac.

And be warned, last year I filled one-and-a-half notebooks.

I have business cards (as a storyteller) - the trouble is, I've still got lots, because I never remember to give them to anyone.

I shouldn't need to ask this, but what exactly goes on the business card?

Ro, these were a suggestion if you wanted something other than writing your details down over and over. It's really up to you want you want to have on them. I've put my name, mobile number and email address.

Mine just has my name and e-mail. If people want more, I give them a complements slips with my full details: they can come in handy, but I mainly used them for invoices and paying bills.

Tors' comment about water bottles rings a bell. It saves precious time if you don't have to keep queueing for drinks. And I love coffee, but I can only drink so much.

I found a distinctive bag was much more use for lugging my stuff around (and harder to lose) than a business case.

Something else I forgot last year: alarm clock!

You can't go to the gala dinner in your slippers!

I have done some business cards with just name, mobile and email and i've written my address on the back of a few just in case the need arose.

I'm gonna bring a few copies of my 1-to-1 stuff (not 10, maybe 4-5)
a few copies of my first 3 chaps and synopsis
laptop
my little leather folder thing which holds pen, pad etc
water sounds like a top tip as i'm a fizzy water junky
prob bring some jordans cereal bars as i'm not much of a breakfast person

Other than that i was just thinking of bringing a dazzling sense of humour and my Frank the Tank 'Drink till you drop' T-shirt??

As it's a uni campus i may well try to bring a t-shirt that captures whatever it is students are whining about at the moment!! is it still saving trees?? either way, it may help me to blend in ;-)

I think i could potentially be arrested for bringing, or at least wearing, a fabulous dress and i don't own any fabulous shoes! :-(

Jock, if it's any help on student attire, student A in our family wears restrained outfits in navy blue with lovely silk scarves, and student B in our family wears folkie and CAMRA t-shirts: in fact his dress-sense is alarmingly like mine circa 1974!

Other than the lists above so far, I'll add:

- bread - for the geese
- choc - for the soul
- mints - cos it's funny how dry your mouth gets in the 10 mins before a 1-1
- a good book for the train journies

I took lots of copuies of stuff last year and lugged the all back home again.
The York insts also suggested bits of paper if anyone doesn't want to go to the trouble/expense of business cards.

Hard copy of the welcome pack with lists of workshops and map was invaluable - by Sat pm I'd forgotten what I had signed up for!
