Any of you guys travelling from the south?? I'm looking at trains
etc and it's the best part of 5 hours and £100 + taxis etc with 2
changes. I'm thinking i can drive for a similar fee and not be tied
to train times. What do you guys think?? anyone coming from my
way?? (Portsmouth/ Hampshire)
see you all there

I'm not far from you, Jock, but I'm adding days on either end to
visit friends, so I'm not much use to you.

I''m going from Kings Cross on Friday morning. Last year, it was
lovely to find myself sitting next to our own dear Whisks, who
recognised me from my profile pic.

Yeah, i suppose there is always the chance of meeting people on the
way! :-) I'm looking at going from King's Cross mid afternoon.
Getting into York at 17:30 ish i think that should leave enough
time to get booked in to my room and have a quick shower before
dinner.
I just worry that on sunday i won't be bothered to get the train
and that it will be so much easier just to throw myself in the car
and head to my doorstep. But train is defo winning at the
mo!!
I might get a 'Cloudies on Tour' t-shirt printed up so i'm easily
identifiable (and avoidable ;-) hehehe

I am driving from North Yorks area and have 5 seats free in the
'Autumn Bus'. If anyone needs a lift let me know. I am leaving
Friday about 11.30 and returning Sunday after (hopefully) a cloudie
meet up?? Please note : passengers will be expected to navigate
once we get to York...

I haven't made any travel plans yet. :(
I get into Heathrow on the 22nd. And I have to head out to Leek,
but I'm not sure if to do that before the conference, or after. Or
if it's easy to get from Leek to York. :(

Leek? Do you mean Leeds?

Decision made!! I'm coming by train. It's not bad price, relatively
stress free and i can drink to my hearts content and not worry
about killing others.

Jock - I went for the train option again this year and was glad of
it last. I was so full of new info and excitement last year I was
whacked by the time it was all over.
I'm doing the Friday mini this year so it'll be a morning train
from kings cross after an early start from Bath.
I'll keep an eye out for chickens and foxes 8-)

I thought so too. But my friend says he lives in Leek. We'll see
when I try to book a ticket :)

Ah sorry, I know where you mean now. If you get the bus to
Stoke-on-Trent, you can then get a train to York, which will take
two and a half hours.
