Original Post Nope, they're blue, and I got them in the sale
at Clarks. Sensible, comfortable and blue.
Are they suede?

I feel a song coming on. They're something boring called nubuck.
But 'Don't you step on my nubuck shoes' sounds wrong.

I like nubuck. In fact, I'm wearing nubuck boots, right now
Is that wrong?
They're not blue, though.

Wrong? No, I'm sure you wear them in style, Guero. I don't wear
shoes in style. Well, actually, I don't do anything much in style,
but that's another story.

With all this talk of John-O with shoes but maybe one sock – and
trousers (hopefully ~ are you related to Brian Rix ??!) this is
more what I’d expect:
The setting York sun slants obliquely down upon a lone figure
waiting somewhere by the Wentworth bridge. His wide brimmed hat
is down covering his bowed face but we see his long straight hair
cascading down over a poncho. (A real one – not a Sears
one)
He slowly looks up as he hears screams from a nearby James
bedroom.
Through the window we see an impossibly frizzy-haired (and partly
dressed girl) exclaiming “I can’t go to the gala like this . . .”
John-O fixes his steely gaze upon the girl. His well chewed
liquorish cheroot moves from one side of his mouth to the other
and he smiles slightly.
Flicking back his poncho with a flourish we see a brightly
coloured waistcoat holstering a set of Gold GHD’s.
Extreme close up on small badge ‘To straighten and serve – at
less than salon prices’
As John-O advances the sunlight glints off the GHD’s and into the
girl’s bedroom. The girl sees him and swoons “I’m saved”

Can I please, please, please be the girl? I don't know if I'm good
at swooning (never tried), but I'm sure I can learn.

I believe them to be some sort of hair straightening equipment,
John. Like an iron. Only without the need for an ironing board.

Yes, they are a brand of hair straightening irons. Ceramic plates,
don't ya know, so considered to be the finest. As one who owns a
rather large wavy length of hair, I can whole-heartedly agree -
they are the best. GHD stands for Good Hair Day. I have the jumbo
ones with one and half inch plates, and it takes about 50 minutes
to straighten my hair. Just so you know what you're in for, John...
JtF: best idea ever.

As to casting ~ I'm a bit 'snowed under' at the moment.
I'm someone who believe that UK TV advertising has to be truthful;
honest and legal and my bedroom's full of Lynx fallen angels.
Normally I wouldn't mind but I've had Gina Lollobrigida
hanging by her fingernails from my windowstill tap, tap, tapping to
get in. . . .
