Hi all, I am self-publishing my first novel, The Drought, within
the next couple of months with Pen Press Ltd. I am writing a blog
about my experience on printweek.com - you can see my first two
posts here.
Any feedback, advice, or suggestions from other self-published
authors on what I should post in my future blogs is most welcome!

Hi Scaff 7 - for me it's an intriguing topic. I have read your
pieces and would like more on a similar vein. Your experiences,
costs etc should be fascinating and would appeal to the unpublished
writers fraternity.
BTW, I have published two 'crime' books on Kindle if you want to
mention that on your blog, ha ha...
kind regards
stephen

Scaff7,
Agree with Stephen - your two posts make great reading. I am
finishing my first novel, and have as yet not seriously considered
what to do next. I have read about the services this site offers
and may have a professional review. After that ... depends.
May I ask that you include some information about your edits,
reviews, and preparations. You say you had two years of rejections,
but can you expand on why that happened, and what you did about
it?
Good luck

Thanks for the feedback guys, always welcomed. I will certainly be
writing about every angle and aspect of my self-publishing
expiernece so I will be certain to blog about things such as
editing, cover design, marketing, etc.
And I am completely new to this as well. This is my first novel, so
I would be more than happy to hear about your experiences and then
mention these in my blog, as I think it all helps to bring the
experience to life.
As for the two years of rejections letters, I got myself a copy of
the Writers and Artists Yearbook and simply sent out my manuscript
to as many literary
agents as possible, without much success! I kept plugging away, but
eventually decided if I couldn't get published the traditional way,
then I would try the self-publishing route!

Hi Scaff7,
Four years of writing, 43 major edits, plot nothing like the
original, joined this forum to give and receive advice, posted my
beginning, got great replies, at present making another edit, will
re-post next week.
I'll keep you updated. Feel free to mention me - I would appreciate
it.
Thanks.

Scaff, interesting stuff - I'd love to know all the ins and outs,
the work you have to put in to finalize the MS and the costs
involved etc. One thing though, I tried to post this as a comment
on your blog but couldn't figure out how to. Are comments turned
off intentionally, or am I just too blind to find the button?
Good luck with your experiment!

Hello Scaff - I am in the process of self publishing right now. It
will be interesting to compare costs.
I will look up your blog over weekend.
