Do my eyes deceive me, or is there now a 'delete' button at the top
of topics you start?
And do you also have the option to 'delete' not just your own
posts, but those of others? :oO
Curiosity keeps dragging my mouse towards this button, but I'm too
afraid to click it in case there's no 'are you sure?' option and I
suddenly take out someone else’s hard-written contribution.
Perhaps there is an omnipotent presence on the forum after all. I
shall sacrifice a chicken :)

You've always been able to delete a topic that you start. It will
of course, delete all the posts that have been made on it.
As to deleting posts of others: on our tandem story topic it
looks like I have the option to delete posts but in reality
clicking the button doesn't result in anything happening. It's a
pity as it would be good to remove posts that people would like
to change and then load up again.

Aha! Cunning :)
The chicken gets a reprieve. I got an 'Unexplained error' stating:
The error is an unknown one; An administrator has been
notified. Then it locked the reply box so I had to reload the
page.
Hmmm. I think the things I'd like to see are:
- An ability to edit posts you have made
- An ability to delete them, even if it's only immediately
after, or before they're replied to
- An ability to preview your posts with the option to edit. At
the moment it seems like you can only post or delete previews -
no ability to change them, which sort of undermines the whole
point of a preview.
Then maybe the minor points of:
- The code issue sorting out when you copy from Word
- A members' only forum for critiques - one that people can
only view/participate in if they've signed up. So that people can
post their work without the entire internet having access to it.
Though I haven't checked whether this is the point of groups -
maybe they're closed to the public. I shall check it out when I
go offline.
Maybe we could make a list of suggestions and politely send
them to the contact you gave? Seems a little strange not to have an
active mod.

Hmmm. I logged out and I could still read all of the groups and
posts in the groups – everybody’s work and questions are visible to
the world. You'd only have to register to reply to something.

I think you can 'lock' groups, Kasubi. So you have to be a member
to enter and you have got to be signed in to 'get in'. All safe and
sound in those ones :) But yes the world is usually watching. :o

The Cloud belongs to its members. Though there's no moderator as
such, Harry (and others of us who are connected with Writers'
Workshop) are often here and will respond to anything untoward. If
that doesn't happen, WW are just an email away. But most things can
be dealt with by the community itself, which includes some
committed and very sorted people. Hence any issues that have ever
arisen have all been sorted speedily and effectively.
Many of the other things raised here re editing and deleting posts
are intrinsic to the software and I don't think they can be
changed.
You're right in thinking that anyone can see posts on anything
apart from locked groups (eg the online course). The only
restriction is that you can't post unless you're registered. For
anyone that feels anxious about that, I suggest only posting work
on closed groups. Even so, as you know, once something's on the net
it can never be truly secure.
