Hi everyone, I've only just realised what
happens on this forum section so I'm going to put up some info on
my novel, Sisyphusa. The book, which took around 18months to
write and another year or so to edit, has been published by
Chipmunkapublishing (
www.chipmunkapublishing.co.uk)
and has been out for nearly three weeks. (note- the publisher is a
social enterprise dedicated to helping sufferers of mental health
problems get their work published so anyone who falls into that
category it is a very helpful resource.)
Sisyphusa is a dystopian
allegory of depression and the mental health system.
It loosely mirrors Homer's Odyssey in its characters
and its driving sense of journey through the central
character, Odis Winston. Early readers have remarked that it
reminds them of Orwell's 1984 and The Trial by
Kafka. The book has a lot to say about mental
illness, something which has turned my life upside down over the
last five years, but please don't be put off by this. It is
by no means a single issue book. There is satire, there
is political and social commentary, there are philosophical riffs,
wide-ranging characters and it all takes place in another
world- like ours but with different names, places and rules.
For more info please visit this website I've set up for the
book

On the website you can access a preview of the first chapter, more
info about me, a comprehensive list of links to where the book is
available (incl. Amazon-paperback and kindle, Waterstones,
Foyles and various stores across Europe, North America and
Australia. There is tons of other info and links on there and
please feel free to ask me any questions or make any comments- my
e-mail address is on the website or you can contact me on the
Cloud.
Cheers,
Michael
