Hi next year I'm going on a travel around the UK by train and hoping to turn the adventure into a coffee table book with lots of pictures and text. But I have no idea how to tackle it, any suggestions?

I'm popping down the library to read through some others but in terms of layout and even best way of publishing, my brain has simply gone blank Undecided

Cheers Cool

Ah, this answers my question on the wall. With non-fiction, it's normal to approach potential publishers with a query/proposal prior to writing the book. If accepted they may well give some guidance. You can certainly research house styles, lengths of books, ration of text to photos, number of full plates compared with insets and so on. The lady to ask on here is Spangles; she's had lots of non-fiction published. Just mention my name. Wink

Thanks for your help Tony, Spangles was really helpful. Have decided to do a blog about the travel first, as I travel.

Sounds like fun. I look forward to reading it. Do you know yet when you'll start off?

Right we've finally got things planned!
Well that is all dependant on my getting the holiday i want (have a meeting this afternoon at work so fingers crossed)
Anyway, going away from the 11th May and coming back on 25th. My blog is www.sjwelsted.co.uk/blog and probably be RoverAroundBritain but haven't qutie got round to setting it up.
Also haven't quite worked out the logistics of putting my photos in as I generally take them in RAW so they are huge. Just need to sit down and look at it really :-)

Let us know nearer the time when you're starting out.
Btw, there are a number of free image size converter programs available. You'll find one of them here:
