Writing a story starts with an imagination or just for fun?

For me it rather be started with an imagination then it goes
whatever it ends as long as it act like real !!! and writing a book
is not for run -- its our boundary to manage well things !! and to
call it Great after --

It could be anything word or idea or something I seen on tv and
daughters. Once made poem just two words.

I'm not sure how many writers would admit they started a story just
for fun. Certainly, all stories start off with a germ of an idea.
Whether it grows and blossoms is something else entirely.
But, having fun while writing is highly desirable.

I sometimes do, with a favourite book, create my own chapter; the
same characters from the book, but in my own way...just for myself
and 'just for myself'. However, I do use my imagination to create
my actual stories-not messing around! A bit of both, really! :))
