It's nearly tea time, which got me thinking about writing while
eating. We've already discussed the amount of tea that's consumed,
but what about the biscuits?
My favourites are big, fat, chocolatey ones. Fox's Shortbread
Rounds are pretty good, because they're almost more chocolate
than biscuit. They're particularly good for those days when
everything I write sounds as though I'm learning English as a
foreign language.
I am also pretty much anyone's for a dark chocolate ginger
biscuit, and have spent many contented hours comparing brands.
Purely in the interests of consumer research, of course. Our
local post office sends the best brand of these (Border). I still
can't decide if that's a good or a bad thing.

Any kind are my favourite but preferably those with chocolate. As
long as I don't have to share the packet.

Well, a Tim Tam is an oblong biscuit with chocolate on
the outside. What flavour you get defines what's on the inside.
They're quite nice.

McVities caramel slices. mmmm. Must resist however as I'm on a diet
and eating such delights as bran-flakes and carrots. Oh the joy

I'm strictly a rich tea and Chocolate Bourbon person. Though I find
some cerals (I know I can't spell) go very well with tea and
typing. Such as Cornflakes or Weetaflakes.

Bourbon, for the win. Or just a big bar of daily milk, or two, or
three.

Toffeepops. I've had a thing for those bad boys since I was
little. They're brilliant for dunking.
Other than those, I'm not a biscuity person, I prefer really bad
chewy fruity sweets, the ones that make your teeth cry out when
you pop one in your mouth.
Rowntrees Fruit Gums. Mmmmm. And good blackcurrant and liqorice
sweets, ones with really generous liqorice and very flavoursome
blackcurrant shells. Divine.
These things have to be enjoyed in private though, as you do tend
to look and sound very odd while eating them.

Depends on the tea, I suppose (drawing m' emeralds smugly around
me). For Earl Grey? Well, I propose nothing short of a digestive:
it absorbs liquid well, remains firm in the face of elevation, and
its inherent sweetness complements the bitterness of the tea
(Elbows off tables!).
Ah, and coffee... coffee and biscuits. Hub-Nubs (<Swedish for
Hob-Nobs) are a true delight, marrying themselves so readily to the
black and bitter liquid that J. Collins looks-on in envy (is that
envy her face is registering? It's hard to tell nowadays. She
may'). The hubnubs- owing, I suppose, to the treacley stuff They
mix the oats with- are still somewhat resistant to the teeth,
chewy, don't you know.
Bourbons, CUSTARD CREAMS! Nice biscuits are not, malted-milk:yes.
No jaffa cakes, no tea-cakes, please- tea is serious business.
Caramel digestives... Enema cookies...

Ginger nuts for me... got to be about 5, can't have 1 or 2... they
are perfect for dunking - but you've got to know your dunk
technique for each brand or it all goes horribly wrong. My sprogs
love ginger nuts as much as me... which is a bit of a shame - and
they know all possible hiding places, little rats! My other half,
he has a box of seconds delivered by the milkman once a month. But
they're his.
Not that we take any notice of that
tee hee

This is a deeply insensitive forum for overweight diabetics such as
myself :-)) There, double chin - I said I was overweight. I don't
know if any of you are familiar with the French singer / songwriter
Claude Bourbon? Now he really takes the biscuit.

milk chocolate digestives for me though no good in the rucksack or
out and about because once you have had one biscuit then the rest
tend to crumble up if carrying them about.... or is that just a
pathetic excuse to eat more than one?
