Where does this comma go?

I'm using single quotation marks for speech, and double for speech
within a speech - if that makes sense. My editor changed V one (to
V two) where I had put a comma after the double quotation marks. Is
this correct? Highlighted in bold.
V one
'A fat man, Chinese, came for me. Brought me here … you were on the
floor … I thought you were dead. Fat man kicked you. “Fish
food”, he said.’
V two
A fat man, Chinese, came for me. Brought me here … you were on the
floor … I thought you were dead. Fat man kicked you. “Fish

Ignoring the speech within aspeech aspect V2 would be correct in
normal usage. I cant see that your small variation would change
that.

Wot Spangles said. Punctuation at the end of a piece of dialogue
goes inside the "s. The fact that the whole lot is inside a longer
piece of dialogue doesn't change that.
