My first e-book

An exciting day for me today as my debut e-book published by me at Smashwords is selling today; not huge numbers, but selling. It is non-fiction, a collection of humorous (all except one) experiences of my time in Thailand. It is a fund raiser to help those affected by the 2011 Thailand floods.

And I launched a website too, that still has some work to do on it, like blogging, but it shows you what I'm about. My Thai Eye can be seen here at http://www.edwintipple.com/buybooks.html (links page plugs WW & Mean Streets) and here http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/120297 but this is not a plug for you to rush for your credit cards.

The stories are short and straightforward, so I did not get these edited. If I can't string a few paragraphs together then I should give up. I did my own cover artwork too, but here had some good feedback from Whisks, Tony and our newcomer Sarea, which you can see helped it to develop into the fine piece of art - bound to fetch millions once I'm dead - if you take a peek at http://writing-community.writersworkshop.co.uk/forum/topic/6517

Putting the stories together was simple enough and doing the cover was really interesting. So too was the formating conversions - if you're a bit geeky - to permit it to jump all the Smashword upload hurdles. And sure enough, as soon as a copy is sold I get an email to keep my spirits high.

Now when it comes to my period murder mystery (100k words), I doubt if I have the skills to edit/proof read/cover design those and it may well be foolish to even attempt to. So any volunteers, please step forward: I jest. But I am interested in the marketing side. All tasks to do assuming I don't get that one-in-a-thousand book deal.

Once I have my blog sorted, I'll send updates of My Thai Eye's progress occasionally to anyone who wants to know. I'll tell you once its up.

Thanks Whisks - it wouldn't look as good without your input.

Well done Eddy - I'm sure it will be a great hit. Loved your designer cover - brilliant. Had a quick flick through. BTW it's people lose them (the CDS), not loose them...

amy@thewritehelper.com is a brilliant editor and inexpensive.

And please send me a link to your blogs and I'll set it up on mine stephenterry.weebly.com
