by Persia 9 months agoThanks for the heads up, Whisks. It's a bit of a weak point on the website that notifications about topics don't pop up...

by Persia 11 months agoThanks. I wasn't ajour with Barb's coming or going from the Cloud, and I've been so wrapped up in a history project that I hadn't noticed there wasn't a Cloud in the sky... :-)
-
by Tony 11 months agoHmm. 2 things, Persia. WordCloud has be off the air for the last 36 hours, so all sorts of things may or nay not now be missing. Certainly there was a whole string of answers for Barb question. The other thing is that Barb has deleted her profile as of a few days ago. Hopefully, as she has done before, she'll be back anon (possibly in both senses of the word - as she has done before!).

by Persia 11 months agoBarb, what did you end up deciding on?
And - can anyone tell me where that chain of responses disappeared to? Is it my new laptop, or is it really gone? -
by Barb 1 year agoWhat do you call someone who sews things without making them sound like a stinky place full of rats? I don't want to call her a seamstress as she is sewing up corpses after autopsies. This is in an Elizabethan setting. Any suggestions?

by Persia 1 year agoSpangles, seen in that light, my writing is definitely for the UK! It's Georgian Era fiction... most Americans would assume southern bells instead of ball room beaux. ;-)
Tony, I just posted to the Kink thread - hope it helps! -
by Tony 1 year agoPersia, I've just added another question to the 'Kink in my grammar' thread - when you get a chance to look at it.

by Spangles 1 year agoI see what you mean about it being the German spelling! As for whether to try for a UK or US publisher, I think it depends entirely on what you are writing and which is the better market for that genre. There are often profound differences between the two. Some US romantic genres are worlds apart from their UK equivalents, and vice versa. Also, if you are aiming at the US market you have to be able to write in an appropriate style - it's no good if you come across as sounding very British, for instance, when writing for the mass market in the US. Horses for courses!
