by PaD 10 months agoHello everyone! 'Nother geek is in your midst =) Just wondering if this group is still active.
I'm raaaather looking forward to the new series (being something of a Moffat-Smith fan) What's are people's thoughts? -
by Jak 1 year agoThe orginal angel episode with David Tenent drove more horror and suspense with me. I really looked forward to these episodes but was a bit disapointed with the first of teh two parter, it opened too many cans and was very predictable, the whole talking angel was for me away from teh orginal idea he set up with David Tennent. obviously things have to be bigger and better but the fundamental rules set down on another episode should still be used? HOwever I loved the second part, teh suspense had come back, teh explaination of the cracks, teh men disapearing into it, the angels running scared and the coming to life with AMy Pond int he forest had me on the edge of my seat. ANd I thought the end with Horny Amy absolutly great, There is no way I would have turned her down, even if I was 905. brilliant second episode in my book.

by Clockwise 1 year agoRebecca Holmes: come on those last 5 mins were hilarious! What was it they said 'Doctor: "We need to sort you out" Amy "Well thats what ive been trying to tell you!" ' - Very funny. But I do agree perhaps not appropriate for pre-teens. But then again they probably wouldn't understand it anyway.
Whats the harm in a little bit of confused sexual drive at the end of a Doctor Who episode? Its certainly bringing it into the new decade! ;)
Mike: What was wrong with all the statues? I thought it was a good idea. But I do agree it would have been 'spookier' with just one statue and Amy (and doctor and river). And did no one else find it a little bit predictable that the statues were actually angels? -
by mike 1 year agoThe Weeping angels. The idea was fine. The best idea so far! Statues coming to life has an honourable literary pedigree. But why were there so many statues? One statute and Amy Pons would have sufficed, From the visual point of view, the statues never really came alive and when they descended into 'pre' time, i suppose, they merely resembled falling stones and not a writhing mass. The fact that the statue pursuing Amy Pons never really came alive made it lack real horror and the point that weeping angels would normally be above coffins was never really made. A minor quibble, but the story could have been more horrific - though one was distracted by a plethora of minor sub plots.
One of the first adult novels i can remember reading had been on my parent's booksshelves and concerned a ring that enabled Greek Gods to come alive. I think it was called 'The night life of the gods' or something? Many years later, for odd reaasons, I attempted my own Greek novel and i wonder if i memory of this book had been an influence? -
by Rebecca Holmes 1 year agoI'm really liking Matt Smith as the Doctor. He's mad but in the right way. The Daleks episode was good for the first two thirds, but then seemed to lose all coherence and somehow just be too 'easy'! It left too many loosed threads which I can only hope is deliberate, ready for pulling together in a later episode.
The Time of Angels - excellent, especially the second part which would have got me hiding behind the sofa when I was small. Classic 'girl lost in the forest' trick, and a stroke of genius having Amy not allowed to open her eyes. But those last five minutes????? That's not Dr Who and would have surely confused the kids. Or are they even more - er -precocious now? -
by Clockwise 1 year agoOk so here we go.
Its another update from Matt Robertson.
I have been rather disappointed with Doctor Who this season.
The Eleventh Hour: Meh! Pretty boring and totally lacking in all the genius of Moffet's previous stories.
The Beast Below: Quite good. I liked the smilers and the star whale. And I have to say I LOVED Liz 10!!
Victory of the Daleks: Ok really, but I was expecting more. The story was ok, but lacked passion. The new Daleks look ridiculous!
The Time of Angels: BRILLIANT! Not as good as blink or the Empty Child but still marvellous! Rivers brill, the new angels are cool!! Its a classic Moffet type episode. Well Done Moffet!! -
by Joey 1 year agoI personally really like the new doctor. I'll always love Tennent but no one ever thinks the new doctor is as good as the last one it's like a rule.
I think the new TARDIS works. As for the swimming pool and Library those were both in the old TARDIS pre-Eccleston but since it's restarted you only see the control room of the TARDIS not all the bedrooms, library, cloisters, bell tower or various other TARDIS locals that the previous series had. Hopefully they'll start using the rest of the TARDIS again.
I really like Amy because she's clever but not suspiciously over-repared to be in outer space. I really like the glibness of their dialogue; it makes it different from other doctors. -
by Lyddie_xx_Whitetips 1 year agoI'm currently watching "Victory Of The Darleks" and laughing while waiting for the repeat of the stone angels episode.
"TARDIS Bang bang, Darleks Booom!" while holding a jammy dodger. While the Dr is talking to the Darleks is very good. I like how Amy is smart but perhaps it would be a better if she was a little less smart.
I don't get what all the fuss about the music is about. I like it - sure it is different but that is what makes it good.
I love the new TARDIS, as the Dr said "sexy" is definitely a good word to describe it. With all those little quirky bits added to the main control panel.

Yes, I been wondering about the swimming pool and Library, haven't the special effects and scenery pps completed them yet? we're having references to things but are not being shown them?
