by Spangles 2 years agoA very belated welcome to all our new members! Sorry not to have greeted you before, but I've been busy with other things recently.
Kate, I can imagine the imagination needed to write something interesting about trademarks. Good luck! -
by Kate.J 2 years agoNeither fish nor fact nor good red fiction - I am currently writing up a paper on trademarks, and it strikes me that writing about trademarks involves just as much imagination than inventing them.

by Kate.J 2 years agoSorry Spangles, I did not mean to come across as ungracious! - I think perhaps because my novel is my escape world to which I Iike to flee (I read somewhere that writing fiction is "achieving a different way of being in the world" and I am too greedy to be satisfied with just one life) I want to escape rather than work.
I've just been asked to interview someone for a book consisting of interviews with people. My "victim" seems very approachable, luckily. The interview is in a month's time so I have plenty of time to research him.
I have two books on the go and have just been asked to write another (more general) one - may have two competing editors/publishers for this one which is nice but perversely I would rather they were competing for my much-rejected fiction! -
by Spangles 2 years agoYes, it is, Kate. Although it's also a group for people who want to write non-fiction. And yes, it seems that novels don't write themselves (that's my reluctant conclusion after conducting experiments for years on that subject).

by Kate.J 2 years agoIs this the right group for a wannabe fiction writer who is lumbered with writing non-fiction? A group which will firmly (but gently!!!) tell me to stop faffing about and GET ON WITH IT?

by Spangles 3 years agoHallo everyone. Welcome to the group and thanks for joining. The coffee's on, the biscuits are in the tin and the sun is shining.

by Miss_Masala 3 years agoHi - I have posted under Critiques - A true story about working as a volunteer and trying to relax in India for 12 months 07-08. Only 12 days into the trip I was lumbered with 2 new born mountain dogs pups (twin brothers) half way up the Himalayas. Unbelievably, I managed to keep them alive, took them with me around India for the next 11 months, then just HAD to bring them home to the UK.....what can u do :-)
I welcome all/any critique, as I really want to publish this. I carries a serious message about the stray dog issue in India, (actually several messages) but is a lively fun insiders guide to India and its people. If I am ever lucky enough to be successful, I want to put a % of the sales money back into India & sdome of the issues covered in the book.
Prologue and Chapter 1 of Tails of the Unexpected
Please if you are interested read and critique, and I will do the same for you. Many thanks :-)
