by Spangles 7 months agoHi Bazbaron
Could you elucidate a little? Do you mean the protocol in mentioning a particular brand name - such as 'The Ferrari purred to a halt' - or some other aspect? Maybe you could give an example, and then I'll do my best to help. -
by bazbaron 7 months agoHi all I don't know if I'm asking this question in the correct Group, I've had it hanging around for a few days in the writingg techniques group with no responses yet, but does anyone know what the protocol is for using brand names or manufacturing names in novels.
Thanks :-) -
by Oscar de Muriel 8 months agoHey Gipps!
I started drinking tea when my 6 daily cups of coffee at work were turning me into a bag-eyed monster.
Now I have a mini Twinnings store in my drawer: Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Peppermint, camomile & vanilla, lemon & ginger...
Last year I discovered Fortnum & Mason's smoked Early Grey and drank it by the bucket. If you like Assam leaves you'll probably like this one too. Can't wait to go to London to get another tin! -
by GippsGirl 8 months agoI see the activity in the group has withered away, so thought I'd introduce myself and my tea-drinking habits
I was raised in Australia on strong tea, inherited from Irish roots. My tea has to be extra-super-strength: made with Assam leaves, 1 and a half tea-caddy spoonfuls in a small pot, lots of milk. The amber colour has to be just the right shade of strength and milkiness before I will drink it. People are usually horrified at the sight of my personal brand of nectar.
I start the day with a cup of tea, then have another one or two before 2pm but rarely after that as caffeine prevents me from falling asleep.
What's your tea habit? -
by Lyddie_xx_Whitetips 1 year agoDoes anyone else find that if they are stuck, they'll go make a cuppa? Even if they haven't finished the last one?

it's lovely to have some new letters on here utilising the room again.
As I can't have milk with some of my tablets, I enjoy a nice cup of black earl grey or lady grey or even dajeeling tea, which I find I like. It cuts down calorie intake by not having milk and sugar and every little helps. -
by Nibs 2 years agoHi tabitha
Sorry to hear about your issues with steroids. I've also been putting on lbs with mine and struggling to keep the weight under some form or control. IT'S SO NOT EASY...I know. I'm on 2mg I think, twice a day. They had to cut me down drastically because they were making me so poorly.
I'm still hitting the downers with them, but nothing to the depression I experienced at the beginning of my chemo treatment. I'm now on my last lot of steroids....YIPPEEE!. So I'm wishing you all the best for losing weight.
Find ways that make exercise fun and enjoyable. That's my advice.
I use my wii fit only toward the end of my month as I'm currently too ill for more than this, but simple walking regular, even just up and down stairs are good. anyway, good luck hun.
Again, perseverence with keeping moving and losing that weight gain. -
by tabitha 2 years agoIs this the place to let of steam about putting on 2.5lbs this week. Even when I have completely finished the steroids. Last week I was still on them admittedly only 5mg a day and lost 3.5lbs in group. Huh. My opinion is that losing weight is one of the hardest things to do and that is why so many don't and I really admire people who have lost lots.
