About
Black Smokers is an under-construction horror / adventure novella in the thematic vein of HP Lovecraft / Jules Verne that I started writing ages ago. I'm now determined to finish it, and to keep me on the straight and narrow, I am going to post my progress publicly to shame me into actually working (ahh, public humiliation - nothing like it!). This will be a closed group simply because I do have a few small presses in mind to submit this to, and they all have a 'if it's publicly on the net, it's published and we won't touch it with a bargepole' policy - it's not 'cos it's any big secret...
Three scientists take to the deep ocean to investigate a sudden and massive shift in the sea floor of the Pacific Ocean. What they discover is not only staggering, but may also bring about the end of human civilisation... unless they can stop it, of course. But how can they stop it when one of their number wants it to happen?

by CJ 4 months agoAt the moment, Black Smokers is public - but once I start posting material, I'll make it a closed group (because I do intend to pitch it to some Lovecraftian mags / small presses at some point, and they count 'posted publicly on the net' as 'previously published - do not touch with a bargepole.
This is an old-school cosmic horror / exploration adventure, in the thematic vein of HP Lovecraft and Jules Verne, mixed with more modern sensibilities.
