Alive

I sit. I wonder. The facts of life; my say in it. I strech my arm. I clutch my hand. To grab what's mine, what belongs to me. I open my fist. I find nothing but air. I take a deep breath. I smile. I can breathe. I own a life. I am alive!

Simple, but profound. There's a lot we take for granted.

This is necrophobic, and offensive to us dead folks!

Wrathers, you are living proof that being dead is no bar to being alive. Breathe the good air mate, one day it might not be there.

I wrote this on my trip to highlands. It just wrote itself. I felt like writing it for real, but you are right Wrathnar, I should have considered the sentiments of the dead. I'll keep that in mind the next time! Apologies.

Nice words Iti - the highlands must have been fabulously inspiring.

They were indeed Mark. Three nights of no internet, no signal, hardly any people and just fresh air and nature. Was a perfect holiday!

Wonderful. I only went up the Scottish highlands once - many years ago. I was driven around by friend and we stopped, got out, and he turned the engine off. I had never heard silence before.
