                                    Your
sophisticated, strong, curvy
stance attracts me - along
 with that subtle perfumey
 scent - Upright you stand
 tall and sleek - Angelic
 creamy white you smile
   to the Heavens above
     Nature's creatures
     adore your gentle
      style - The pride
        of your family
           Head and
           shoulders
              above
               most
               floral
             counter-
              parts -
                You
                are
               proud
                 to
                 be
                 a
                 lily

Like this too - even though one 'professional critique' some years ago, suggested that 'word pictures', such as this were perhaps not the done thing. What did he know!?

Thankyou kindly Jill. I never knew of this 'professional critique', and wonder who it was said it, for it is still taught today? Glad you like though!

Oh! Someone quite high in the poetry world, when I submitted poems for assessment. Good constructive criticism from him all round, but perhaps he thought I was using such techniques too much...

Really? I wonder? Had you used much poetic technique within the form itself? Gone beyond the call of need for their average reader perhaps?

Not sure now, I will have to look up the actual feedback. It was a few years ago and I may be remembering incorrectly. I'll get back to you once I have unearthed it. Seem to remember that he suggested all sorts of ways of getting poetry into print too. 'Life' and other writing meant I did not follow up on all of his suggestions, so we might both benefit when it turns up!

Smiles Jill, that could be interesting, but don't let me add any stress on the unearthing side of things... if it shows, it shows and maybe we can learn something new together... I'll welcome anything might be of benefit in this direction, if it strikes a chord with me I'll follow it through if I am able to! It's so good to find like-minded people to share with!
