Dan's Dating Advert http://mrjamesdudley.wordpress.co2011/01/29/on-the-road-extras-dans-dating-advert/m/
A short part that was cut from my novel, those of you who've read
my script will recognise the character of Dan.

The bits I liked best:
"That was fine." I will be chuckling about that one intermittently during the day.
"... a firm 6/10 for looks." Again, very funny.
"... don't expect fireworks, I try my best to get the job done." Very good, but I would lose the remainder of that sentence.
Other bits I quite liked:
"5'9 in my socks." Although technically perhaps it should be 5'9" - especially considering Dan's unreasonable apostrophe obsession.
"Do not call me after 9.30pm..."
Room for improvement:
Well, I did wonder if Dan's laid back outlook on life was at odds with his strong conservative bent. Young(ish) conservatives are normally annoyingly confident and forthright aren't they? I'd have him down as someone who votes for the Monster Raving Loonies, judging as he does that "they're all as bad as eachother". His apostrophe-angst also seemed a little out of sync with his amiable nature. But I haven't read the rest of your story, so perhaps I have jumped to conclusions about his character.
Just my thoughts. Thanks for the laughs.
I put it here, so that you'd get a general feel for the character and why he's the chap you see in the script. But, thank you both very much for reading and replying, it's very much appreciated. I might add the other blogs I've done about the characters in the future.
