Dinner Party

Published by: Mcallan on 11th Nov 2011 | View all blogs by Mcallan
I hi'jacked Alan's blog about the irritating wildlife progs with my musings on imaginary dinner party guests.

My guests would be: David Attenborough,  Michael Palin,  Roy Hud,  Barry Cryer (I'd just leave these two alone to natter about  jokes they have known)
Jonanna Lumley to whisper in my ear,   Pamela Stephenson (nicked form Alan's party( 'cos she's dead sexy and will talk about sex)....though if it's on different nights it's not a prob!)

So come one folks.  It's like a Desert Island Discs...sort of..who would you invite?

Albert Einstein, Jesus, William Shakespeare, Cheech and Chong, Attilla the Hun, Lemmy from Motorhead and Lorraine Kelly (to do the topless waitressing).

I'm assuming that being dead is not an impediment. Wrathers guests are, largely, not to mention the man himself.

As I said, Pammy must be at mine. Humph and Samantha, Mick Fleetwood (provided he brings Kristy), Peter Jackson, Kirsty MacColl, Paul Simon (provided he doesn't bring Art) and Robert Mitchum. Should be an interesting mix.

A very musical mix Alan. Should be a decent sing song round the piano afterwards....provided you can drag Mitchum from the bar!

Hmm... Bill Bailey, Christopher Lee, Kathy Burke, Greg Wallace, Brian Blessed and Miranda Hart. Michel Roux Jr to cook (so he can twinkle at me whilst serving up classic posh cuisine).

(Just realised most of mine are comedians and / or totally bonkers. Poor Sir Christopher... I kind of feel a bit sorry for him, really).

Ely I'm with you in as much as I'd have Michel Roux jr and Raymond Blanc to cook and twinkle, Miranda Hart, The Monty Python boys, Brian May, Jack Johnson (to provide the musical entertainment), Janet Street Porter, Joan Bakewell, Clint Eastwood (but only if he'd come as Dirty Harry), Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn,Lord of the Rings), Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise (did you see them together on Top Gear), Jeremy Clarkson..................and probably some of the above named but I'd a very large dining table!

I want to go to Ely's party too!....just realised ..I never invited any musicians to mine!...what was I thinking!..ermm..ok..got to be an acoustic guitarist....I'm going for Ralph Mctell...big influence on my playing...aaaaand...gonna nab Billy Connoly with his banjo cos he and Ralph are mates and I've heard 'em nattering on before. I would just listen and watch Ralph's fingers.

You're all invited! And I'd also like to extend the invitation to Terry Pratchett (HOW COULD I FORGET HIM?!) and, yes, Kain, too (Kate! I never knew you were a fan too... ^^D)

I think Oscar Wilde and George Bernad Shaw might be fun with Janet Street-Porter between them. If I'm allowed, I'd have Miss Marple and Harriet Vane and Lord Petter Wimsey, too because there could easily be a murder to solve before the meal is over. And Lewis Carol; he and I would make up silly rhymes about all the others.

Sarah Millican, Rickey Gervais, Mike Myers, Jonny Depp, and Kylie. I'd invite more but I don't like cooking for large groups and too many people means we won't all get a chance for a good natter.

Mine is picked without any thoughts as to potential group dynamics or chemistry- just people who I like:

    Bill Bailey - Funny Man
    Arsene Wenger - Football/Philosophy
Salma Hayek - Latina Love interest
    David Attenborough - Elder Statesman
Dr. Alice Roberts - Makes Science Sexy
    Leo Tolstoy - Provocateur/Grump
    Nina Simone - Vocals
Che Guevara - Fights & First Aid
    Me - Odd One Out

My guess is Sir Dave falls asleep before dessert, Bill Bailey and Dr. Alice go searching for monkeys at nearest zoo, Arsene's busy doing formations with the salt and pepper, Nina gets pissed, Leo and Che team up to foment revolution which just leaves me and Salma Hayek...now what could we do???

Ross Noble, Noel Fielding, David & Victoria Beckham, Philip Glenister, Johnny Depp, Victoria Coren, Graham Coxon and Penelope Cruz. I'm eschewing those from the other side. Sorry, Ian Dury, Ronnie Barker, George Best, Bobby Kennedy, Nell Gwynn and Mary Wesley. Another time. Although I'd be just as happy with a place at Sisyphusa's table. Well, he's going to have to chat tactics with Arsene at some point and I'd hate to see Salma neglected!
