Exchanging Scents

He mislaid his jacket

Left it hanging on her hook

Surrounded by her silk scarves and hats

Leather aroma surreptitiously drifts

On the train to work

Bringing a flush to her cheeks

And speeds up her heart

Later, when he wears his coat

He smells her perfume

And smiles

Love it. Who hasn't worn their lover's clothes from time to time? I've gone to work wearing someone's aftershave, just so I can sniff my wrist and remember the previous night. One tiny thought. 'Aroma' doesn't quite work for me. I know there aren't many other options, but still...
All in, though, I thoght this was super.

thanks guys. Aroma is one of my favourite words, just love the way it rolls round your mouth! Sorry you don't love it too Maryluv, but thank you so much for your feedback.

I'm not usually one for modern poetry, to tell you the truth, I don't understand most of it. However, yours is perfectly understandable, sweet, and as Whisks says, poignant.Despite it's brevity you make the point you are trying to make and I liked it.
