A New World

The concluding days of my ninth grade were the ones when it all started, which changed my life in whole, as I started writing a novel of my own. Shocked, impressed or disgusted but trust me it is a wonderful feeling. It was not easy for me to start writing considering all the criticism and sarcasm I received on this act of mine, but I try to be that deaf-frog who won a race which his companions frog lost due to the crowd’s boos, and he won because he was deaf.

It was a Saturday morning, I was in the school for my extra classes along with my friends. Once done with the classes, while we were waiting for our cars, it was a very good time to discuss about the things that interests us, Harry Potter was one of those. Barry Trotter, the parody of Harry Potter, had released by then. While we were talking about it my friend said something, which later, as I pondered over it, brought to me the writing-world, those words were, “…this way we can write our own stories too.” I could not help but mock him for that particular moment not knowing sooner or later this is going to be turning out to be true for me.

And I started writing. It was not easy at first but I never gave up because I wasn’t willing to throw away all the effort that I have put in it. Inspired by Harry Potter, I realized that what I was writing was nothing different than Harry Potter itself. Unfortunately, I figured this out after writing almost 39,500 words, I had to abandon it then.

But now I am writing again with a fresh plot and planning in place. Fantasy fiction is its genre. Its title is ‘The Necromantic Onyx’ (I love calling it TNO). Many people wonder whether how did I come by or decided to choose this interesting a title for my book. Here is the thing, once into anything you have to devote most of yourself for its sake. Hence, what I did was go through the whole big dictionary (the thick English to Urdu-we are familiar with), with idea already in mind, I couldn’t miss these words while going through it. This was not just it, I wrote everything important, that I might need later, obviously, I wouldn’t be going through the dictionary everytime I am writing.

I hope I stop being lazy and finish it as soon as I can. Now that I am into writing, I do not plan on stopping.
