One more time, with feeling. Sigh.

Well, EzBird and I are alone again. Our gorgeous two interlopers – both home and heart – have been reunited with their true parents. I can’t believe it has taken six months to sort out but finally the lovely lady from Cats Friends (there was a genuine “Monty Python” moment – Life of Brian – when I mistakenly associated her with The Cats Protection League... splitters!) scanned the little ones and found their chips.

Good luck to Puss-Puss and Mittens (AKA George – which I doubt he is really called because he really didn’t seem to like it – and Bobbi, which –with heavy heart – I have to say got her trotting excitedly up the path) as they return to their original owners and a new house where they won’t be bullied by a neighbour’s cat into running away.

I’m crap at pome’s but I just get this irrational urge to blub one out when I’m sad. So, sorry for this but...

The good news is,

It must be said,

That my two cats

Are not dead

The sad news is,

It must be said,

That my two strays,

Are home in bed

The good news is,

The owners said,

That their two cats,

Were not dead

The bad news is,

The owners said,

It’s goodbye time,

And tears be shed

The good news is,

I barely said,

At least they’re loved,

And well fed

The bad news is,

I think I’ve said,

Is were alone,

Again. Instead.

:o(

Oh no Ez. What a sad piece. It's easy for me to say that you were blessed to have them in your world, even if it was a short visit, but I'm not sitting here catless. Maybe, when you're ready, some other little paws could make their way to in front of your fire?

It's true though, Barb. We do feel blessed by their little socks, and when we found out how bad this other cat was it made letting them go so much easier (the couple have moved house would you believe to get away from this feline terror?!)

As for new fur on the carpet? Always an option Barb, always an option.

    I am amazed at the dichotomy of the situation;
On the one hand I am so made up that we did a good thing and helped and saw the young couples faces (even the bloke was a little tearful) when they were happily greeted by their missing cats and the thought of what I would have been like if I had lost Charlie and Lucy (RIP, both).

On the other hand... the little bastards still had their claws in our hearts and tore out a good chunk on their way out the front door... I could, if I really think about it, just cry. :o(

What a wrench Ez. Best thing to do is rarely a painless thing to do.

"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone."

14 points and a biscuit if you know who wrote these words.

You did a good thing Ezzy. It must have been bittersweet for you to see them reunited, but a huge relief to see that the owners were such good folks.
I am with Barb...another couple of cats is called for here. Go one mate....you know you want to..:)

Well perhaps it was not so much Morgan's words as his character Red's....NEVERTHELESS they are good words... Oh Ez, I commiserate. Want to know what will make you happy? Another cat. And then another. Birmans preferably; they're the best....

Ah, McAllan, how well you know me; I think, as cats are not the only thing I've lost this week ("Job", before anyone panics and thinks "person"), that EzBird and I are heading for sunnier climes in the next month or so. Poodle around the south coast (because we can) before jetting off somewhere erotic. Sorry, exotic. Drown our sorrows in a sea of tranquil turquoise (nearly typed turtle piss, then...) and dance naked under a Moroccan sky on talcum powder beaches. That's right; I'm going to get stoned. Probably for blasphemy. Although the med is unlikely, despite Tunisia being £150 a week for a 5* all inclusive and "HMS" Cyprus is not for me. So away to Mexico! Or Maldives! But more than likely Mablethorpe... sigh. (It sounds exotic if you pronounce it Mab-la-Tor-pay...)

I was looking for Frank Darabont. Or Stephen King. No points and no biscuits. But have some more cats instead.

Commiserations,Ez. Like everyone says - get another cat. They're great fun, even if mine does bully me awake in the mornings. Btw, what's wrong with Mablethorpe? Sandy beach, donkeys, funfair. Even a big paddling pool and putting greem circumvented by a Thomas the Tank Engine ride (if it's still there). We always had nice weather when we went there, too. Now we're more adventurous and go to Cornwall where it keeps raining on us.
