Peter Bradshaw: The physical form of annoyance:

So, on any of these days, when I'm reading a review for any film you can sort of pick up what the person is generally like. Charlie Brooker is the cynical type who we wouldn't want any other way, for his fantastic view of life, television and the world in general.

Peter Bradshaw is the complete opposite, he's a complete and utter prick in all prick-ness type glory (not a good thing). He's comes across as someone who doesn't enjoy his job of reviewing films--from reading his review of Inglourious Basterds. I'm pretty sure this guy is a prick, because he comes across as....as someone who doesn't seem able to enjoy a film like it. The film is a fantastic epic of fantasy of killing nazi's.

I read his review and it's clear Peter Bradshaw is annoying beyond belief, it just comes across in his writing style of being unable to enjoy a film. And I know people are entitle to their opinion of anything, but still, this guy is a prat and doesn't come across as likable.

Sorry if I repeat stuff, but this guy really gets to me.

I had a letter published in the Guardian a couple of years ago making precisely this point. I wrote it after Bradshaw awarded 9 stars out of a possible 45 in all the films he reviewed that week. I said wouldn't he rather go and do a job he actually enjoyed? Ooh the backlash the following week. Loads of people wrote in saying I missed the point of film reviews; they said it wasn't Bradshaw's job to award stars if he didn't really like the film. They also praised his witty writing. Well it's easy to be witty when you're slagging something off. Anyway, I agree - he's a pompous arse.

I also have a theory; I reckon I can guess what he'll thing of a film based on the barest information. Foreign films with subtitles - 5 stars. Re-released black and white films - 5 stars. Comedies - 2 stars. Anything British - 1 star.

I also wonder why he bothers reviewing some fims at all; they're just not aimed at your typical Guardian readers so why bother? He's inevitably going to slag them because he just doesn't 'get' them. Ok a lot of us would probably hate a High School musical - but it's aimed at a particular demographic so what's the point of reviewing in the Guardian and being snobby about it?
