This could be my backup plan for Southlander:

Maybe without so much of the backup. Probably just 'plan'.

I have also published 2 yarns on Kindle. Both being sold for 2.15. Hopefully they would attract an audience that wants low cost, easy to read, entertainment.

Whether or not anyone actually buys them is another matter.

So the millions haven't been rolling in, yet?

Or perhaps they have - I doubt you'd tell us!

Good on her! She's sold 900,000 copies of novels ranging from $0.99 to $2.99 and she keeps 70% of that. She sold her first one one April 15th 2010, so she's made more than a million bucks in less than a year from kindle etc. Well played! I've read the first chapter of My Blood Approves and Hollowland and they're fast paced, emotive and well observed but they're not slick, they're rough, unpolished. Strangely, that doesn't bug me as much as perhaps it should. Yes, it would be better if it had been edited but hell, the publishing world has proved that it doesn't want to edit - it wants the polished morsel served on a shiny silver plate or it will reject it as soon as it finds the first repetition or mis-type. That's their loss. This lass can tell a tale and can keep the pulse going strong. That, in my mind, is where the skill is. Maybe she can afford to hire an editor now. A little polish and these would shine bright enough to make MacMillan squint in pain.

I suppose the moral of the story is still...

Step 1: Write a damn good book.

I went onto her site and watched the trailer for 'My Blood Approves' and to be honest, it bored me.

The story doesn't sound very original and even if it is only $0.99 I still want to read an interesting, original piece of literature.

    Not for me I'm afraid . . .
