Shameless Self Promotion

Published by: CJ on 9th Sep 2011 | View all blogs by CJ

Well, I took the plunge. Today, whilst Lucy was at nursery and with Emily firmly attached, I created a Cafe Press account and Facebook Artist page for my stuff (largely one-handed due to aforementioned Emily situation, so if there are mad errors, you know why!).

I am currently selling T-shirts / other various items of clothing, cards, trinkets and various mad things with my artwork on it - I need to dig out my old PC to recover some of the original larger files so I can create prints and postera at a later date (I'm hoping to be able to do this over the weekend).

Currently, I have 6 lines of merchandise, and woud be grateful if any Clouders would like to go and have a look. Also, if you're feeling generous, it would be lovely if anyone feels like 'Like-ing' my Facebook page so I can build up a presence there.

Thanks to Cloudies for giving me the confidence to even think about this... it kind of rules! ^^D

It's not shameless self promotion at all - it's what you need to do to get your stuff out there! Good for you : ) I've 'liked' your Facebook page as well! I have a couple of friends who are musicians - one of them is a 'shamless' self promoter whilst the other is always doubting himself hates to push his music onto everyone!! Go for it and good luck! X

Thank you, Karen - and thank you for the 'Like' as well! I find that this kind of thing really goes against my grain, but if I want to be serious about it (well, as serious as one can be about Cafe Press!), I have to get over that... the only way to get anyone looking is through promotion, and the only person who knew about it is me, so it stands to reason that I have to promote! Otherwise what is the point?

I have to admit, I am quite chuffed at how some of the things look - I really do need to get the prints sorted out, though. Mainly because I want copies of my digital pieces in print, too!!

I've been saying for ages that there must be a way to retail those fab drawings of yours, and you've found it - Yay! I've liked your Facebook page. Hope you do really well and we can break open a bottle to celebarate your first million!

Oh my, Ely, you are a talented lady, aren't you? Thank goodness I'm old enough now to have accepted my limitations gracefully (writing, yes; art and music, no), otherwise I'd be green with envy.

Like the time back in my youth when I played a certain record to someone I knew and said: 'I wish I could play guitar like that.' 'Like this, you mean?' he said, and picked up my guitar and played it, note perfect....

At least I set probably a new record for myself by writing about 1700 words yesterday.

But I ramble. This is YOUR thread, and I should be wishing you all the success your venture deserves. Which I do. Best of luck with it.

Very impressive. Good luck with your T.Shirts. i am sure these will appeal to the graphic novel market. Your images seem much less crudely drawn.

Elysian Eyes is a beautiful site. Very best wishes with the venture Elysia and don't be shy; artists are noted for being unable to sell their own work and you've made a very impressive start.

Hope it'll make you rich. Am :-)
