'THAT BEAR ATE MY PANTS' LIVES!

Published by: TonyGetsLost on 1st Jul 2011 | View all blogs by TonyGetsLost
Like Frankenstein's Monster, it rises from the cold slab. Of my hard drive. Then it eats my brains and wrecks the joint.
No! Wrong movie, sorry.
This one is about a soon-to-be-successful writer and the project which is his pride and joy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls; dogs, cats, guinea pigs and at least one person who has a profile picture of a walrus; my book, 'THAT BEAR ATE MY PANTS!' is finally available for public consumption*

*Do NOT attempt to eat this book. A Kindle may look tasty, but it has small bits which will get up your nose. Tony James Slater cannot be held responsible for injuries sustained in such a manner.

Anyone thinking of buying it, please go here: http://amzn.to/thatbear
(You may have to cut n' paste - I still can't figure out how to make a link.)
You have my deepest, most sincere thanks.

Anyone not thinking of buying it, thank-you anyway. But think hard - you've got all day to change your mind. Tony still loves ya baby!

And here is a picture of the front cover, to tantalize your taste-buds further. But please see above for rules about not eating it. Food for thought...

OMG, I've bought an e-book and gone digital. My life will never be the same again. Sorry, Tony, you're in a queue – I haven't finished Gerry's book yet. I've learned in the last couple of years that knowing a lot of authors gives you eyestrain – and an amazing amount of fun.

I don't have a kindle- so have downloaded the Kindle for PC programme. It's so easy- can't believe I haven't already done this. One click and I've bought your book! Yay!- have sent text to my mum to remind her to buy it too.

My only query is; how are you going to sign my copy if it's digital? :D Good luck with the rest of the day, Tony xxx

Likewise, Geri, I downloaded Kindle for Mac, and was up and running in five minutes. Will there be free signed pants, perhaps?

Free signed pants sounds like the way forward! Of course, I'll need a lot of help to sell enough copies to afford any pants, signed or otherwise :0)
Not doing too badly though. As of 2pm I'm hovering around Sales Rank 748!
I'm listed in 3 categories; I'm no. 2 in 2 of them and no. 3 in the third! And it's still early days - not many people home from work yet...
But don't rest up! Tell your friends! PLEASE!!!
    Love

Hey, Tony, where do we watch your progress up the charts?

John, you on Facebook? Otherwise I can update on here... Just seems a bit futile, with only you and Geri interested! But I love you both, so here goes... (and og course, I do love telling people - you'll see why)
I haven't checked my sales rank in a while - don't want to turn into one of 'those'!
I did happen to visit Amazon.co.uk though, and if you do the same - and look at the Kindle books, in the 'travel' category (I think they call it 'travel and holiday' on Kindle, for no apparent reason) - and now scroll down the list... there I am! At number 9.
    Not bad, eh!
Especially when you consider that Bill Bryson is just below me at number 11...
    Big Cheesy Grin Time!!

Lorks, that was easy. I now appear to own my first e-bbok. Something about pants and bears.

Thanks so much guys n gals! You lot have almost single-handedly riven me right up the Amazon charts! I was so excited about it that I took some screen shots, but I'll have to post a new blog here to show 'em off. Suffice to say that I ended up at no.7 overall travel books on the Kindle, bracketed either side by Eat, Pray, Love at no.5 and one of Bill Bryson's offerings at no.9! Holy shit, that might just have been the proudest moment of my life to date.
The only question is... what next eh? Where do I go from here? Coz I am absolutely knackered, and really not in the mood to get up and start marketing again tomorrow! Advice welcome...

Well done Tony! Since it's 18 minutes to midnight, take the rest of the day off. I'm not kindled not mac-ed, but I wish you all the best.

Cheers folks! Been one helluva day... and I'm knackered. We peaked at 450 in the UK charts, and now we're experiencing a slight retreat. But in the immortal words of Arnie: I'll be back!
    And... sleep. Ahhhhh!

I'm not Kindled or mac-kindled either. My mac would nor allow it. I might have to buy the latest operating system to do it. A typica; mactrick and a kindle would probably be cheaper,

Wow, thanks! High praise indeed. My Mac is also too old and crap to take the Kindle software - I thought I was the only one! Mac users tend to be quite up with the times and all that. I almost couldn't buy my own book - disaster! In the end I was 300 miles away from home on the launch day, so I borrowed my Uncle's computer and put the software on that! Mike, if you're interested in reading it I can send you a .pdf file or a HTML file? Not nearly as pretty I'm afraid, but it would mean you could get an idea of the writing?
Thanks again folks, I'm so chuffed to have you all helping me out!
    Tony
