Book Drum - visit and contribute!

By davidpelliot
I was hugely impressed with this new web site called 'Book Drum'. It is on the face of it, an entirely new and exciting site for those interested in books and writing.

The site enables 'contributors' (authors or readers) to register and put up reviews of favourite books, which is not of course in itself unique.

But what is new and innovative about this site is, it enables, through the use of 'bookmarks' a facility where the contributor can take a quote from the book, and attaching to that page additional information which can be video, photographs, drawings,  sound files, maps, map co-ordinates, research, documents etc., which add to the total story behind the book - hence 'Beating the Drum' for the book.

I'm proud to say that at present my book 'Clan' is the 5th most popular book on the site - only 2 places behind Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' (Number 1 is 'Saturday' by Ian McEwan) so feeling totally unworthy in such illustrious company!

For those of you who have contributed to my blog discussion on 'Literary Fiction' that might be quite amusing!

Below is a sample of a video included as a bookmark in 'Clan'

drum kit?

By norman normington
I used to be a pretty good drummer and still do that irritating drummer thing where you drum on everything, my OH reckons I should get another kit, just one of those neighbour friendly electronic jobbers that you can play your iplayer through and drum along, obviously for some reason she sees a shed down the garden as my drum room!
Is this mid life crisis? I would like to meet up with some old farts and hammer away down the village hall once the old timing is back.....sad old git?

Teach's sword

By anaisnais
Look at my face, -
see scars of Demelt.
Enormous black beard
woven and lit by matches;
staring back at you.

Feared of reputation,
I reflect in my blade -
a ladies man in style.
With feathered tricorn, hemp
and multiple weapons to hand.

Representing ferocious battles,
and yet no account of killing one;
I use my terrors' edge
to gain entry of ship;
steal valuables, gold, food, weapons and liquor.

Aye; 'tis by rumour alone
we did battle those seas
of 1718 and more.
Notoorious our piracy legion lives on;
my handle Black Beard, Teach, Drummond.

I forever a treasured and trusted companion,
historic; now I lay to rest for all to see.
One but rescued, when run aground;
on Queen Anne's Revenge,
around Ocracoke Inlet, North Carolina Seas.
