Cloud Feast
Fifteen of us managed to survive the days mental exursions at the
Royal Overseas League - or about twelve or thirteen, plus partners
- to shuffle down Picadilly to the eatery five floors above
Watersons book shop, appropriately enough. We'd learnt everything
there is to know about Getting Published. (Basically, as Harry put
it, for those who couldn't make it today: Write A Good Book. That's
it in a nutshell.) We'd also knocked back a glass or two to launch
Harry's book of the same title. So we took our seats in the
cafe/restaurant/winebar type of place and studied the menu. When
we'd all decided what to order the waitress came and told us there
were only three dishes available to choose from! Fortunately
they were all edible so we enjoyed our meal, though probaly more
thanks to the company than to the fare. Whilst awaiting service
these few words somehow appeared on my paper napkin:
For launch parties, young Harry Bingham
Certainly knows how to fling 'em.
Though we may not rejoice
At the small dinner choice
Harry praises - we still want to sing 'em!
Say goodnight, Tony
