Information
  • What genre do you primarily write in?
    Sci-fi
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
    Isaac Asimov
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
"I, Robot", "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "Watchmen", "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", "The Singularity Is Near", "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", "The God Delusion"
What are your working habits when you write?
    Procastinatory
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
Prefer to let rip and edit afterwards
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
I want to become an accomplished science fiction author with a good fan following, and eventually win a Hugo Award, or if I'm truly lucky, a Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award.
    Your worst habit?
I tend to write by doing "a little bit" each day. How much is "a little bit" varies, but it takes a long time to get done. I also fear my diction and characters are a bit stiff.
Your opinion on the books industry?
It is a tough game, but everyone does their best
    Where do you write?
In the comfort of my own home.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
I'm still relatively new to writing, and I'm only 18, so forgive me if I'm not very good.

About

I'm an aspiring science fiction novel currently working on a novel tentatively titled "Robotic Ruins". It's an attempt at examining the impact a robot capable of near-perfectly mimicking a human would have on society, with a misanthropic slant. I'm currently in the process of uploading "Ruins" in hopes of receiving feedback. Any help is appreciated! :)

And here she is browsing the profile, staring aghast at the section reading '18 years old'.

An 18 year old who has not only heard of, but read 'Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?'
That explains why I found your work so readable - that is just about the only other book that engaged me on a similar subject, and I found that your writing resonates Philip K. Dick's style. I'm stunned, really - I've mentioned that novel to a number of people, all of whom I assumed would have heard of it, and I was disappointed to find that none had. I first discovered it around the age of 15, while searching the house for more books to eat. I found it beneath a very heavy pile of long neglected novels in my mum's bedroom; picked it up, flicked through it and thought I'd give it a try as I was just hungry for something to read. I never regretted it. An amazing novel.

Anyway, enough of the digression - I think that your ambitions are well within your reach, and I would urge you to keep at it with all guns blazing. To think that you are only 18 is frankly disturbing - you are what I would refer to as a one off, not meaning one trick pony, but rather that talent like yours does not come along often. Especially in these paltry times when so much bullshit gets published because the masses aren't open to anything other than mindless drivel and subsequently that's what sells best.
