    *Struggles to contain excitement* Steve, I might have a snippet for the round-up soon. BSC Review (my bosses) are just checking with HBO, but if filming is still ongoing for fantasy epic 'Game of Thrones' in Belfast, I'll be heading down there to cover it. Eep! Loads of fantasy fans on here so it'd be relevant! Wanna wait til the ed gets back to me though, if that's alright.

    Hi Steve - I just replied to you on my own wall, which I'm guessing is the wrong way to go. My decision to self publish was based squarely on my control freakery. I was offered a contract, but as soon as I saw the clause that allows the publisher the right to choose the title, artwork and decide what content has to be changed - up to the point that, if you refuse to make those changes, another writer can be brought in to do it for you - I decided to go it alone. So far, things are working out well.

    Aha - I'm with you now. Yep, I've been intruded upon too. Gave up on the local rag as soon as I hit the sports section. With every article, I just wanted to smack my head off the table. I'm going to do work experience with someone who doesn't seem to know to correct simple mistakes; better than that, I have to do so in all humility.

    Hiya Steve. It's really not a big deal, it only came about as I went a bit mad and sent copious emails asking for work experience everywhere. I'll be writing up 3 or 4 news articles a week (mainly entertainment news, but what I like is that there's a certain style expected - if you go read BSCReview you'll see what I mean...it's, um, relaxed) and manipulating images to go with my work. I didn't even want to be paid, but I will be.

    It's based in the States, but it doesn't matter. It's still something for the portfolio. I'm also about to start work on an article for National Adoption Week in the UK, which is Nov 1st-Nov 7th. I have fingers on many pulses; hopefully going to join a local adoption support group to have a chat and gain some insight.

    Bit of news too - that brother that I've held on a pedastal for so long got a promotion in PA. They took on an exclusive contract for the Daily Mirror (groan, hiss, boo) and he's now their duty editor.
