  • Are your reading habits ...?
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
Salman Rushdie, John Banville, Alice Munro, Coleridge; TS Elliot
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
Love in the Time of Cholera, Garcia Marques; Midnight's Children, Rushdie; A Fine Balance, Rohinton Mistry; The Untouchable, John Banville; Sword of Honour, Waugh; Vanity Fair, Thackeray; Bleak House, Dickens.
What are your working habits when you write?
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
    Ten times? Why so little?
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
To have a collection of short stories published, read by a reasonable amount of people including some whose opinions I admire; to have those stories favourably reviewed so that I can use the quotes when trying to market my next novel, a true masterpiece!
    Your worst habit?
I am inclined to multi-task haphazardly which means that I don't get on with my writing often enough. I have not taken it seriously, until now having been convinced that my talent is as great and as little as many of the best known contemporary authors.
Your opinion on the books industry?
Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through
    Where do you write?
At home in my study although I am beginning to realise that I may need to invest in a small laptop and take to a cafe/library occasionally.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
I think you ought to know that I have no pets, I rarely have baths and I am one of those cosmopolitan smoothies who lives in Central West London. I am retraining at a somewhat advanced age, to become a psycho-analyst.
