Hi Jenni B. Thought your caption comp was very clever. Had to squint at the pic.

Thanks for the link to 'words that should be cut'. So guilty that I need to go through the whole MS and take a good look at it. Oh dear.

Thanks, Catasshe. I'll try the 'can do' attitude now. Positive affirmation and all that. Sometimes I think we're a little too 'English'.

I was longlisted in a massive competition, so pretty chuffed there but they said they'd let us know personally if we'd been shortlisted. They didn't. I read who the shortlist were in the Times (!). This was four days after my mother had died in an ...

Friends in their fifties!!!! Yikes!!! Better make the most of the time left then. We had a spate a friends who died in their thirties and forties. Awful. We celebrated them all in style but we also met up with people we haven't seen for a while at ...

I think it's because we know so much about these places now, that were shut off to us before. The 'olden day' traveler simply packed a rucksack and went. Lived or died. I do think it is more dangerous, personally, and maybe because they now know ...

Hi John. How wonderful to have seen such amazing things. You've had a colourful life, full of experiences that most of us will never have a chance of seeing nowadays. The world expanded for a while but also seems to have grown a lot smaller. There ...

Maybe you should plainly ask them if they are really, really interested, Prop. To do all that work for them to turn round and say 'well, actually...' It's just I had an agent love one of my books but say it wasn't quite right...then he said 'write ...

Wow, Dolly. So true and beautifully written. Maybe we can't/don't talk about the dead is that it's too close. Maybe we talk to them quietly, on our own.

LOL. That must have seemed random! In response to your 'anyone writing anything happy' on hels wall. How 24 hours can confuse a conversation. :)
Yours is going to be a real head scratcher if even you can't work out who done it. Keep writing you'll figure it out.

I've just killed off my MC's aunt, had his girlfriend snatched and him kidnapped. I've got to torture him next chapter. Don't we make our characters suffer. I'm enjoying it ;)

    Hi Hilly,
I've just read your June comp piece. Really strong, really scary. Great empathy with your characters. I've never been in situation quite that bad, Berks. Not from other kids, anyway. And employers are a bit more subtle in their bullying.

Thanks Hilly, always like to try new things for those competitions! Enjoyed yours too, think we've all been in that excruciating position at some point as a child too! Even as an adult i'd wager!

Just read your "real" entry. So sad. Loved the image of being led like an old, blind dog - says so much in so few words.

Fingers crossed for you. I write under another name, Teri Chambers. I'm not too hot on advertising so any book sales, Kindle or paperback are hit and miss. One day I'll pluck up enough courage to push them, but not yet.
