Hello Daedalus, I hope you saw the big RAF fly past in London today, and that you enjoyed it. I am thinking it might have been designed just for you. Roger and out.

LOL. Or she might have made up some silly words long ago, extremely disrespectful of herself and mind-sing them when the NA starts up. One wonders (in a Queenly way) if these would include any really bad (or 'bed' as she would say) ones ...

Thanks. Yes, it’s a cap - the band with the name of the ship is known as a tally, by the way. HMS Daedalus wasn’t a ship by 1967 - by then it was the naval air station at Lee on Solent - all RN shore establishments have ship’s names and are ...

Hello Daedelus, I saw a photo of a sailor wearing a HMS Daedelus cap (is a sailor hat called a cap?) in an old newspaper I was lighting the fire with (from 1967) the other day and thought of you. I wonder what happened to him. He looked very smart, ...

HMS Daedalus wasn’t a ship by 1967 - by then it was the naval air station at Lee on Solent - all RN shore establishments have ship’s names and are known as ‘stone frigates’ due to one of those quirks of naval history and tradition. It’s nice that there’s still an HMS Daedalus and it’s just down the road from me
