About
I live in the north east in Billingham and am currently writing my first children's novel. I have just completed a proofreading course and I am partway through my copy-editing course. I have just accepted a job to take over a book reading group and I am currently looking to become a proofreader/copy-editor part time.
I help out with my local library events and have started to do book reviews which I thoroughly enjoy. I love anything to do with books and literature and I am always here to help if anyone needs it :o)

by Skylark 10 months agoJust had a quick look at it sounds great! We just broke up for the holidays today so I'll tell the Y5/6 teacher about it in September and see if I can get her interested in involving her class. She's usually up for stuff like that...My class are too young as they're only 5-7 year olds. Thanks for keeping me informed :-) xx

by Gerilyn 1 year agoHi- those photos you sent are gorgeous! I love the one of the 2 dogs looking at each other. I'm looking forward to having a go at drawing them. I love the horse portraits too.

by Rugby Anthony 1 year agoHow are you doing? I'm here because my pre-submission rewrite (all into first person ...) is painful and I need a bit of distraction. Not that being distracted will help, but that's the way it goes. Thanks for saying hello and I'll keep the Cloud open while I work now as it's more productive than updating all the plug-ins in my browser.

by Pete 1 year agoThanks for the comment Blue.
I have taken your advice so now I am trying to work my way through the local libraries entire "Famous Fiction section" through out the easter hols. I am quite apprehensive as I have got to read "Clarissa" and "War and Peace" after the one I am on at the moment! I have found some real gems. "a study in scarlet", "Dracula", "Frankenstein" and "The Eagle of the Ninth" among them. Thanks again. :) -
by Mighty Jock 1 year agoThanks Blue,
I think most of the SM branch are using it at the moment.
Thanks very much for your in depth feedback the other day too. I will reply in full at some point when i get a few minutes, but it is still very much appreciated. ;-) -
by Debi 1 year agoOh, I really wish you had spoken to me at York! Not that I'm suggesting the people you saw got it wrong, but we could have spent more than 10 mins talking this through. I can say though, that you should never do a complete rewrite on the basis of one person's opinion, and especially not if it doesn't feel right to you.
Beyond that, not having seen your writing, I can't be more specific. If you like, you can email me your synopsis and first chapter and tell me the issues that have been highlighted in feedback. I can't make any promises re the outcome, but at least we can have the conversation we would have had face-to-face at York. info at debialper dot co dot uk -

by Ro 1 year agoAw thank you :P The festival was brilliant! Didn't talk to any agents or publishers or get much feedback from my one-to-ones, but talking to you all more than made up for it!! I'm trimming and tweaking my first book based on what I learned :D How was it for you??
