  No it isn't cured yet, and I agree, I think my security is only part of the picture. I am able to use my computer by keeping the windows task manager open and when I can see it spike, I have a look and if it is a process I can close down I will. Any thing more technical than that, and I am lost. I wondered if I might have a software conflict. I'm waiting for AVG second level to come up with a fix. I have a grammar spellchecker that I bought and every time I use it AVG resident shield goes into overdrive and the grammar checker won't work as it rely's on getting on to the internet. It did work before, that is what I don't understand. It must have been after an update ut stopped working. I rang the software company and they didn't have a clue.
