There are three rules for writing the novel. Unfortunately no one knows what they are - Somerset Maugham.
Information
  • Are you a ...?
    Unpublished writer (so far)
What genre do you primarily write in?
    General fiction
If you write in more than one area, what is your next most favoured genre?
    Comedy
    Are your reading habits ...?
    Involve robots and/or elves
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
    Georgelotte Brontwell
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
Catch-23, Lord of the Ring, Jane Air 1985, To Cook a Mockingbird, Great Expectation,
What are your working habits when you write?
    Procastinatory
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
    Some self-editing
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
Some cash, some cudos - and a dictionary.
    Your worst habit?
Not methodically improving my writing skills
Your opinion on the books industry?
Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through
    Where do you write?
From the bottom of my soul - I mean, 'sole' - on the bottom of my sole.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
I'm more 'hobby writer' than professional and more 'hobby' than 'writer'

Thank you, Noel. That isn't really a typical story for me. Most of mine are either daft or a bit gooey and romantic, because that's what my audiences seem to want.

Yeah, I've finished my ms and am now keeping well away from it for at least a month. I've gone back to working on the story about the Luddites that I posted a suggested opening for on here a while back. I'd like to finish it before next year, as a kind of 200th anniversary tribute.
