Information
  • Are your reading habits ...?
    Omnivorous
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
Harlan Coben, Dan Brown, Maeve Binchy, Marian Keyes
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
I have recently enjoyed John Katzenbach's 'State of Mind', Bernhard Schlink's 'The Reader', Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons', Patricia Cornwell's 'Blow Fly' and Tom Wolfe's 'The Bonfire of the Vanities'.
What are your working habits when you write?
    Disciplined
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
Prefer to let rip and edit afterwards
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
To see my book on the shelves in bookshops with a good agent and publisher behind me. Naturally, I would like to sell a respectable number of copies... it doesn't do any harm to have dreams!
    Your worst habit?
Doubting myself: wondering whether to keep slogging away at the book I've spent the last three years writing.
Your opinion on the books industry?
Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through
    Where do you write?
Locked away in the spare bedroom or in the lounge with my dogs.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
I like riding elephants and eating fresh beetroot sandwiches.

Aaagh! One of my pet hates, Sharon. Low energy bulbs - lethargic, I call them. Can't really be bothered to make the effort, but - oh well, I suppose if you really want me to. There, is that better? No! You're only half as bright as your predecessor and what's worse, he was gone after a few months; I'm stuck with you for years!
Thanks for the use of your wall, Sharon. I feel better now.

You can be posh and hold out until 8. I'm going in early - you never know when the wine might run out!

Most people bgin with white wine, thengraduate to Rose. The next step into the mire brings Australian reds - unsubtle but full of oak and vanilla. Me? I like French red wine. It's a sad fact that you get what you pay for, so the more you spend... It's also true that you get what you desrve! have you passed comment on my scribblings on the critique page?

Not original I'm afraid. here's another:
It was rash of Shakespeare to sign his plays but it was rasher of Bacon.

Did you know that Robert Mugabe is a Yorkshireman - you know, like Sean Bean. If you spell his name backwards it spells E-Ba-Gum!
