Bark Bay in Abel Tasman National Park on New Zealand's south
island. Felt in need of something calm and peaceful. Really wishing
I was back there right now.
Like the photo. Like the calming influence it's having on me. Like
the place. I've been about South Island, but I don't recognise Bark
Bay. Where abouts is Abel Tasman?
Abel Tasman is pretty much at the top of the South Island, close to
Nelson. Water taxis operate from Kaiteriteri to take you to various
places around the park where you can then go for various lengths of
walks. Much like the rest of New Zealand, it's beautiful there.
This was at the end of my walk. There was another gorgeous beach
where I was dropped off - and an indescribably beautiful area at
Cathedral Cove in the North Island. It's making me wish I was
hopping on a plane to go over there right now... and I've only been
there the once!
Ah - now I know why I didn't recognise it. I went south from
Christchurch. Had a good explore of all that, including lakes so
blue I'm convinced they put brilliant dye in 'em, but never
ventured north.
