Is there a story behind this? It looks like a perfect place to go and dream. Could be spooky at night - perfect for coming up with some ghost stories. There were some ruins in a field with woods near where I grew up, which had formerly been the 'Old Hall'. The house had been by the river, but the river became polluted as the Industrial Revolution got into full swing and eventually the stench got so bad the owners had to give up and move out. SO the place was left derelict and over the years local farmers picked up the stones and bricks for outhouses, walls, etc. It was acually on private land, but my dad knew the farmer, so occasionally we'd take a walk that way. They were probably in the about the same state as the ones in the photograph. There was something so evocative about them. You could almost imagine the people who'd been there in happier (for them!) times.
Funny how a picture can trigger memories.

The remains are of the Bulow Plantation in Florida (USA). It was destroyed in the Second Seminole War. I like to visit the place, as it is very quiet and peaceful, as well as offering some good hiking trails. Rebecca, you are right, this building can conjure some memories. I'm glad it brought some back for you. Thanks for sharing.
