The whole trip to Sheffield Hallam and back took 25 hours and meant a stay in the Novotel, but the students were responsive and I think they got something out of my visit.

Hi, and welcome to the cloud. You are very brave admitting you are a literary agent on a writing site. You may get mobbed. Welcome and enjoy.

Hope that didn't come across as obnoxious! I didn't mean to imply that you're dodgy, it's just that a name and not much else could be anything! Thanks for additional info, I'll google your agency.

We recently had an agent join the site: Jo Unwin of Conville&Walsh. I googled their agency, and was pleased to see that they are entirely legit. Unfortunately, there are many chancers and rip-off merchants claiming to be legit agents on the internet - I was offered a contract by just such an agency: The Writer's Literarary Agents/The Writer's Book Agents, who seem to be a front for an editing company. Can you tell us some more about yourself, and provide any references etc?

Hi David, Welcome to the Cloud. I'm sure your inbox will be full by now of many people asking you to look at their work. I hope you enjoy your visits up here as much as we do, but I must warn you about the gremlins that live amoung the clouds. They don't bite but may remove your profile pic or your ability to see your inbox.
    All the best

Hi David - and welcome on board.

And huh, what's this? An agent who likes William Empson? That's allowed, is it? I reckon that William Empson is about as far removed from the marketing philosophy at modern publishers as is possible to examine. I bet the AAA has a policy on this ...

All the best - and see you in York
