John, I thought it best to wear my human disguise for the weekend :-) It's not as pretty, but it makes people less nervous.

Thank you, CKK. I'm puzzled – the only anthropoids I saw at York were of the Human variety!

Boo! I wonder who this could be? ;) Remember, no spice-making while you're here! :D

Hi, I'm a bit late with this, so a belated welcome to the cloud. As I am sure you will have found out, we are a friendly bunch. Welcome and enjoy.

I've been to Zim too, but the only creature I got up close to on that trip was a baby goat - and a scorpion at Kariba Dam! Lions would be a much more exciting option. There is just something about orangs that resonates with me and I would love to help ensure their wellbeing. If I ever had a series of runaway bestsellers, some of the proceeds would definitely go to Borneo.

Hi, I love your profile picture. Orangutans are such gorgeous animals aren't they? I did a 2 week volunteering holiday last year and it was one of the best experiences of my life so far. I went to Zimabwe and worked with lions and it was so amazing (not to mention scary at first) to be able to get so close to them.
One of the volunteers I met out there is going to Borneo this year.....grrrrr, i'm so jealous.

I am perfectly able to manage my own nits thanks, Anthony! (Now there's a sentence I didn't anticipate writing today) If you could just wander round the festival with your mid thought expression firmly in place then, I'll be able to keep my eye out for my lookalike. I'm not much of a hooligan, but I can shout encouragement from the sidelines. Looking forward to it.

Hi there cheeky monkey (not strictly correct I know but Oi! ape just seems impolite).

For a moment I thought you'd managed to put a mirror up as your pic. If I was to catch myself mid-thought, the resemblance would be striking.

It sounds like there's a bit of a hoolie brewing for festival weekend. Hope to see you there, but will draw the line at picking out nits.

Thank you to CeJA, Polly and Chanty for taking pity on a newbie and making friends so quickly!

Chanty, I'm also from Durban. Grew up on the Bluff and went to Girls' High on the Berea. Came over on a holiday working visa with the intention of staying a year tops! I still go back every so often (last December was the latest trip) cause my Dad still lives in Pinetown, but the UK is definitely home now and I feel a little like a stranger in Durban now cause so much has changed. You here for good you think?

Hello and welcome to the cloud. As you are aware I'm also born and breed in SA - Durbanite, but truly enjoying every minute of my time in the UK and meeting tons of people. I arrived last year 1st August, so only been here a couple of months... but what a blast. See you at the festival.
